SEGi Meta Campus is SEGi’s latest leap into the ir5.0 digital revolution and will offer a three-dimensional virtual learning experience to create a fully online coeducational event in Malaysia.

What is the Metaverse Metaverse

We can define the Metaverse as a virtual worlds that exist next to our real world that you can enter and coexist in using your avatar through VR or AR technology. These worlds expand to include all aspects of life as real life, and they also include integrating and connecting the physical world with the virtual world.

The term Metaverse derived from the words “meta” and “universe” can be briefly described as a three-dimensional virtual world in which users log in with their avatar characters and interact with the virtual reality world.

Metaverse is the modern renaissance of the internet and promises to bring new levels of social connectedness, mobility and collaboration to a virtual world.

The internet as we know it is where we surf, but people can “live” in the Metaverse.

SEGi is the first university group in Malaysia to launch a campus with Metaverse technology, and through this campus it will radically change the ways students learn, interact and communicate with the University. Students will attend lectures, social and community engagement activities and meetings with potential employers in the world of virtual reality, Meta Campus within the ecosystem created by SEGi will change all the concepts of online study.

By integrating links between multiple three-dimensional worlds and specialized applications for learning and teaching, SEGi Meta Campus will offer students 400 different and distinctive lecture halls, 30 Meeting Rooms, 6 libraries, 50 retail stores, 30 student break sessions and even 6 concert halls.

Many universities around the world have also adopted Metaverse, such as Stanford University in America, which launched an entire chapter in virtual reality metaverse in January 2022, and Nanyang Polytechnic University Singapore, which has partnered with two major companies in the industry to make learning interactive using meta-related technologies.

The world has changed tremendously with the modern internet revolutions, and the way people teach and learn has also changed dramatically, as students nowadays prefer to integrate technology into their teaching methods.

Perhaps the educational institutions of traditional methods will remain relevant, but we cannot deny the fact that the landscape of higher education is changing to modernity and the pursuit of technology.
